Tirzepatide (also known as Mounjaro) is a peptide therapy for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and has also been found effective in supporting weight management.

Similar to Semaglutide, Tirzepatide works by increasing insulin sensitivity, improving glucose metabolism and decreasing appetite.

Studies have shown that chronic inflammation can be a contributing factor of obesity and weight gain which is why Tirzepatide has been combined with BPC-157.

Tirzepatide vs. Semaglutide

Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are medications in the same class and have both been approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Semaglutide has recently been FDA approved for the treatment of weight management, while Tirzepatide has received Fast Track designation.

Tirzepatide has a unique, dual action approach with both glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist properties. This combination of actions is thought to have a greater impact on weight loss compared to Semaglutide, which only affects the GLP-1 receptor.

Some studies have shown Tirzepatide to be more effective in promoting weight loss than Semaglutide, with one study showing patients lost an average of 14.9% of their body weight on Tirzepatide while others on Semaglutide lost an average of 10.4%.
