INGREDIENTS:

Tart Cherry

Tart cherries, also known as sour cherries, dwarf cherries, or Montmorency cherries, contain more essential nutrients than regular sweet cherries. Tart cherry contains vitamins, minerals, and healthy fatty acids that provide excellent antioxidant functions. Tart cherry can be used to help reduce pain and inflammation associated with various forms of arthritis, fibromyalgia, muscle soreness after exercise, and other types of inflammatory pain conditions. The anthocyanins found in tart cherries have also been found to help reduce body fat, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, high blood sugars (insulin resistance and diabetes), and promotes restful sleep.

Magnesium

As with many other micronutrients, most of the population does not get enough magnesium in their diet alone. Magnesium plays a role in over 300 of our body’s important chemical reactions and is required for energy production through oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis. It also plays a key role in neurochemical transmission and muscular excitability. Magnesium acts peripherally to produce vasodilation (relaxation of blood vessel walls), increasing blood flow to the body, which can help with lowering blood pressure, and preventing and treating migraine headaches.

Magnesium benefits:

  • Energy production
  • Protein formation
  • DNA repair
  • Muscle contraction
  • Neurotransmitter regulation

Passion Flower Extract

Passionflower (Passiflora Incarnata) is a climbing vine native to southeastern North America and is also grown throughout Europe. Studies using people with reported anxiety found that passionflower is as effective as some pharmaceuticals for the treatment of anxiety and drug detox. Passionflower is thought to work by increasing levels of an inhibitory or calming neurotransmitter called gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain.

Taurine

Taurine is a non-essential amino acid naturally produced in the body. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and make up a large portion of your cells, muscles, and tissue.  Boosting Taurine levels can contribute to better cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurologic health. Taurine supplementation can provide numerous health benefits, including restoring insulin sensitivity, mitigating diabetic complications, reversing cardiovascular disease factors, helping prevent and treat fatty liver disease, alleviating seizures, helping reduce symptoms of tinnitus, and more. Studies have found that Taurine may also reduce triglycerides and LDL cholesterol, prevent obesity by improving insulin resistance and regulating glucose metabolism. Other studies have shown that taurine may improve moods, increase mental sharpness, and boost athletic performance.

Taurine Benefits:

  • Improves mood and mental sharpness
  • Promotes cardiovascular health
  • Supports healthy body weight
  • Reduces inflammation

Chamomile Flower Extract

Chamomile flower is a member of the Asteraceae/Compositae family and is one of the most ancient herbal medicinal remedies. Chamomile flowers contain several phytonutrients, including terpenoids and flavonoids, making it a popular choice for supplementation and aromatherapies. Chamomile flowers and extracts are used to help relieve common ailments such as hay fever, inflammation, muscle and joint pain, insomnia, and various gastrointestinal disorders. Chamomile oil extracts are also used extensively in cosmetics and aromatherapy.

L-Theanine

L-Theanine is a nonessential amino acid with antioxidant properties that has been found to help maintain mental sharpness and reduce stress while promoting relaxation. Theanine is a natural stress remedy that can aid in the reduction of both mental and physical stress and anxiety. Theanine can be found naturally in green and black tea leaves and in small amounts in Bay Bolete mushrooms and is commercially available in various nutrient supplements.  One of the nice benefits of Theanine is that it will not cause sleepiness like other supplements or medications. Studies show that Theanine stimulates the brain to produce certain reactions that will make one feel relaxed but alert and not drowsy. Besides improving focus and concentration, animal studies have shown that it breaks down beta-amyloid proteins linked to the development of Alzheimer’s.

L-Theanine Benefits:

  • Promotes Healthy Body Weight
  • Improves Sleep Quality
  • Promotes Relaxation
  • Reduces Stress

GABA

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the primary inhibitory neurotransmitter in the brain, while Glutamate is the primary excitatory neurotransmitter. The balance of glutamate and GABA tone is crucial to normal neurologic function by regulating communication between brain cells. GABA plays an important role in behavior, cognition, and the body's response to stress by preventing our neurons from over-firing and over-stimulation. Researchers have found that GABA can improve mood or have a calming effect on the nervous system, and therefore may help reduce stress and anxiety. GABA deficiency in the brain has been linked to multiple mental health disorders including depression, anxiety, and sleep disorders.

L-Tryptophan

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid in humans, meaning the body cannot synthesize it and therefore it must be obtained from the diet. Tryptophan is necessary for the formation of important brain chemicals serotonin and melatonin, which directly can affect mood and sleep. Research supports that low brain serotonin levels may contribute to increased anxiety, depression, and restless sleep. Several studies have shown that increasing tryptophan in the diet can improve sleep and symptoms of anxiety and depression due to increases in both melatonin and serotonin.

Valerian Root Extract

There over 250 valerian species and several are used in natural medicine for many different ailments but are most commonly used for various sleep disorders. Valerian supplements are also used to help reduce anxiety and improve response to stressors. Results from multiple clinical studies indicate that valerian may reduce sleep latency (the amount of time it takes to fall asleep) and increase deep stages of recovery sleep. Valerian is considered safe by the U.S. Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).

Linden Flower Extract

Linden flower extract (Tilia Cordata) comes from the white blossoms of the linden tree that are native to Europe and western Asia. Linden flower extract has been found to have a sedative or calming effect and has been used to aid in the treatment of anxiety, stress, and high blood pressure.
